Cross-platform internet diagnostics with AI-powered analysis.
Netspecs is a comprehensive tool for diagnosing internet connectivity issues, measuring latency, jitter, packet loss, and detecting potential throttling or prioritization by your ISP.
Quick Start
# Install from PyPI
pip install netspecs
# Run full diagnostic suite
netspecs run
# Run with AI-powered analysis
netspecs run --ai-report --api-key YOUR_OPENAI_KEY
What It Does
Netspecs performs a comprehensive suite of network diagnostics:
- Connectivity Testing: Verify reachability to multiple endpoints (DNS servers, CDNs, game servers)
- Latency Measurement: Measure round-trip time to multiple hosts with detailed statistics
- Jitter Analysis: Detect latency variation over time that can affect real-time applications
- Speed Testing: HTTP download tests and Ookla Speedtest CLI integration
- Throttling Detection: Identify if your connection is being deprioritized under load
- AI Analysis: Generate narrative diagnostic reports using GPT-5.2 or other LLMs via LiteLLM
Use Cases
- Gaming Issues: Diagnose lag spikes, rubber-banding, and connection drops
- Video Conferencing: Identify jitter and latency problems affecting call quality
- ISP Troubleshooting: Gather evidence of throttling or poor service
