What Aesop Agentic Does¶
Aesop discovers persisted histories on your computer, imports account exports, and retains raw artifacts alongside readable Markdown. It keeps content-addressed revisions of immutable session files and verified latest snapshots of large mutable databases. Collection reads source stores without changing them.
| Capability | What You Can Do |
|---|---|
| Collect | Archive local sessions from Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Pi, and other supported tools. |
| Import | Retain official exports from ChatGPT, Claude, and other providers, including their original files. |
| Read | Search and browse supported transcripts in the browser interface or open their Markdown files. |
| Back Up | Mirror your archive to a local directory, an rclone destination, or a Git LFS repository. |
| Verify | Check stored checksums and test a restore before you need one. |
| Schedule | On macOS, install a branded background service and configure native notifications. |
Start With a Worked Example¶
- Archive coding sessions from Codex and Claude Code without configuring browser access.
- Import an account export and distinguish preserved files from readable conversations.
- Verify and restore a backup in a separate directory.
Coverage Is Explicit¶
An archived file is not always a readable conversation. Aesop reports missing permissions, unknown formats, incomplete exports, and unavailable history as coverage limits. It cannot recover deleted history or conversations that a provider never saved. Browser collection is optional and always best-effort.
The source coverage reference describes what each adapter can preserve and decode. Aesop is macOS-first; the Python package includes the CLI, terminal dashboard, and browser interface. The native desktop component is built separately from the same repository.
